About
Lynn Landry-Rody
Threads in Time was established in
1994 by Lynn Landry-Rody, an honours graduate of the Visual Arts
Program at Sault College majoring in weaving, who did an
apprenticeship on the Isle of Orleans, Quebec and who also holds a
Craft instructor’s certificate from Quetico.
Lynn has been weaving since 1974.
Her experience is in weaving fabric for garments and household
articles. Lynn has a huge inventory of yarns available to tickle your
senses, including chenille, silk, cotton, wool, alpaca, mohair and
novelty yarn.
About
Margaret Duncan
Margaret doesn't remember much about her first knitting experience as
she was only 5 when she was first introduced to needles. As years
passed by and frustration mounted at inconsistent and poorly fitting
patterns (one size fits all), who are they trying to kid?, Margaret
worked on existing patterns to adapt them to her frame. She has a
voracious appetite for knitting books and has several hundred books in
her collection.
Margaret has moved around the country with her Military husband Dave
and their last posting was in Calgary where she found a wonderful
knitting guild and very talented peers. Working on her technique and
skills has honed her skills immensely. She can just look at a pattern
and figure out how to adapt it to up to date yarn and styles. She
loves to play with new yarn and create interesting designs.
We are thrilled that Margaret and her family have relocated to Thunder
Bay. She teaches weekend workshops and also teaches mid-week
Beginner Knitting and Intermediate/Lace Knitting classes here in the
studio.
About Linda Hope
Ponting
I
belong to a very “crafty” family. As a result, I have been encouraged
to try various creative mediums: painting, sewing, knitting, pottery,
embroidery, weaving and beading. I have learned the technical aspects
of a craft through research, workshops and instructional classes; but,
I was never satisfied following existing patterns.
I
naturally gravitated to creating my own designs starting a home-based
business in 2000 called Hope’s Designs. As my formal education is a
degree in geography and history, my designs are inspired from
historical art and images and the various cultures of the world. I
adapt the traditional and integrate it into today’s needs and trends.
